Expanded uses of digital infrastructure across public services

The development of a more modern, unified public service system does have potential benefits for all of us. However, I do understand that technology of this kind comes with risks for privacy and security if it is not carefully designed.

I believe that clear safeguards are required when private companies win public contracts so that we can ensure the infrastructure is safe and secure for UK citizens. This includes strengthened individual control over how and where our data is shared and for what purposes. I am proud that the UK has an extensive existing data protection framework but it is vital that this evolves with the technology so that we retain control.
